March 30, 2026 Law Enforcement-Related Injury in Central Division **The following information is based on a preliminary and ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence. The Department’s understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed** Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating a Law Enforcement Related Injury (LERI) that occurred in Central Division. On March 28, 2026, at around 8:40 p.m., LAPD officers from various divisions were deployed to a planned protest in Central Area. During the event, Southeast officers were directed to detain the subject, later identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile, for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer. The subject physically resisted the officers resulting in a Non-Categorical Use of Force. The subject was later transported to a local hospital by LAPD personnel where he was ultimately admitted for treatment as a result of injuries sustained during the use of force. Force Investigation Division (FID) personnel assumed investigative responsibility for this incident. No other community members were injured as a result of this incident.
